Came home and saw D2: The Mighty Ducks on TV. I have to express my opinion on something that would& #39;ve changed the whole movie. Thread 1/?
The Ducks/USA were so dominant before facing Iceland the first time, that if the first game were referee& #39;d correctly, they don& #39;t lose. 2/?
We saw a lame penalty 3 secs into the game and an accidental ricochet shot on a referee as a result. Ref didn& #39;t need to get that close. 3/?
Ref should& #39;ve known there was no intent, kept Dean in the game on a 2 min pen. Instead, Ducks lose a top D-man w/ the whole game left (4/?)
Iceland goes on a run against an unfairly, undermanned Ducks team. Banks scores, celebrates a little & gets HAPPY GILMORE& #39;d on his wrist 5/?
Accidental contact with a ref? Instant ejection. Intent to injure and maiming the other team& #39;s best player? 2 minutes. HOW, SWAY, HOW? (6/?)
IMHO, Portman stays in, maybe Iceland gets a lead, but that bullying crap doesn& #39;t continue & tone of 1st game changes. USA had more talent.
Then, USA beats Iceland anyway in a shootout w/ a barely healthy Adam Banks, no Charlie Conway & that previous beating in their head.
Iceland was overrated. Needed help from the referees & dirty tactics to get an edge and STILL couldn& #39;t win gold. Couldn& #39;t be my squad.
Also, I think Iceland& #39;s entire team was on HGH. Or 24 years old. Or both. They deserved to lose. Alright, I& #39;ve gone way too far with this.
One last thing, Dwayne Robertson should& #39;ve sat instead of Charlie. Don& #39;t need the And-1 mixtape on the ice in a gold medal game. SMH Gordon.
