Because of the work I do, I think about and encounter trauma (my own and others) at a very intense level. Lately, I& #39;ve been working through resources from @ResmaaMenakem and exploring the trauma that lives in my body. So, I& #39;ve slowly started doing things to notice and
interact with my body more deeply and intentionally. I started running again, I& #39;ve been stretching, and I& #39;m practicing some of the techniques that Resmaa recommends for white-body trauma recovery. It& #39;s been amazing & hard & enlightening & scary & gentle all at the same time.
Now, I& #39;m starting to think about food. One thing that white-bodied people do to each other is pass on a seriously messed up approach to food and nutritional intake. To this day, I don& #39;t really know how to eat. Foods that I love make me feel like crap. Foods that make me gag
are considered "healthy." There& #39;s a whole expectation of depravity around food in white-body culture and there& #39;s a lot of mixed messages and shaming. I don& #39;t know what to do with all that. So, I& #39;ve been thinking about instead of "healthy" foods but rather "healing" foods.
I& #39;ve started a bit of research. I& #39;m also thinking of foods that are healing for the earth and the community around me. So, what are some #healing foods? What restores us, gives us knew life, and sustains the life of our planet?
What foods do you absolutely love that also make you feel absolutely amazing?
I& #39;d love to have a conversation around how food -
not just general sustenance, but specific foods that can heal us, reinforce our journey out of trauma, and be in harmony with the healing
