an interesting, yet profoundly racist phenomenon i& #39;ve observed on here w/stunning regularity is that some folks who make a big fuss about being allies w/BIPOC assume that anonymous avi accounts are white until proven otherwise. very sus to treat white as the default here

this happened to me a lot on my first account because i had anonymous avis. very dumb shit. when i& #39;d tell people i was black, they often said i was lying. when i proved them wrong, they& #39;d simply shift goalposts. it& #39;s wild how dumb people can be. assuming makes an ass out of you

simply assuming all nonwhite people are not anonymous on here is dumb and, well, racist. just remember that lol

these assumptions are also expressed in contexts in which nonwhite people state opinions that these white people consider objectionable because they couldn& #39;t fathom that a nonwhite person would say this, that black people, latinos, POC in general aren& #39;t monolithic
