TBH Some ppl have come of age online in circles that encourage using marginalized identities/disorders/etc as justification to be combative assholes. As a marginalized person with a slew of disorders, I don& #39;t have patience for it. Your personhood is valid, your rudeness is not!
I don’t care if you’re autistic. I don’t care if you’re depressed. I don’t care if you’re half black half asian and use a wheelchair. If you’re comin at someone with unnecessary aggression in a situation where it is not warranted, idc what your identity is, you’re being a dick!
We all have our moments but by god if I ever become a person who thinks I can be a dickhead with impunity because I’m a black woman with adhd and anxiety and other mental disorders—and says those calling out my rudeness are “bigots”—literally chuck me off a bridge lol.
I think this kind of mindset does young people a huge disservice. It& #39;s hard enough navigating adulthood w/o the burden of mental illness, discrimination, etc. Encouraging them to always be combative and on edge is not good activism. There are better ways to advocate for yourself.
