Having been an ICAEW member since 1989 I& #39;m disappointed to say the least that external regulation is needed. Exactly what have the professional bodies been doing?

If external regulation comes in then our Professional Body fees MUST decrease
External regulation is a clear sign that Professional Accountancy bodies (all of them) need to step up or ship out!
We CANNOT have two "masters" regulating us!
That simply is not acceptable

I care not who does the regulation as long as it gets rid of the cowboys
I do care that my Professional Accountancy body has utterly failed me and many others
I call for a wholesale fit for purpose review of Professional Accountancy bodies

Through inertia from Professional Accountancy bodies to address the need for standards across the board and one system of regulation they have played a MAJOR part in bringing the accountancy profession into disrupt by allowing the "crimes" of tax scheme selling & shoddy audits
Today I am not proud to be a Chartered Accountant
