Why Ochako isn& #39;t badly written (A Thread):

so, last night i saw a thread with someone (seemingly pretty frustrated) saying how Ochako is badly written and underutilized. there was like....one single reference they used? (ik y& #39;all can do better than that lol) And Ochako slander has been pretty rampant. so...here r my refs

(this is coming from someone who bingread the manga 6 months ago lol im telling u guys, a lot of things r less infuriating if u reread arcs)

so, ochako is a side character. an IMPORTANT side character! but a side character nonetheless. the main protags r deku, bakugo, and shoto. thats just how the story is set up. so expecting her to have a main character role, while valid given the treatment of kirishima, momo -

and jiro, we have to remember that she probably wont have the MAIN main focus. like, ever. maybe a battle or two, like kirishima.

another thing u have to remember is that, most of the arcs of side characters in MHA r fundamentally vague/broad. "kirishima wants to protect ppl" "momo is insecure" "iida should learn revenge is bad". ochako is a mixed bag of ideas and interesting motivations +

and just SHOVING HER ANYWHERE would be a bit complicated. she& #39;s a girl who wants to help ppl. she first wants to help her family, and now she& #39;s considering how she can help fellow heroes. she& #39;s also dealing with a crush on someone, and that crush is something she deems +

as a distraction. u might be like "why didnt she do anything here or there". but let& #39;s explore that for a minute. what the heck has ochako actually done??

well if we& #39;re looking at it at face value, and again i bingread the series, ochako has basically had a turning point in every season, almost every arc she plays apart.

let& #39;s be honest, she kinda peaked in s2? and her arc was done the moment it was introduced. she wanted to help her family with money troubles, her family was like "dont worry about it" and she was like "ok." alright, well that& #39;s over with....now what?

s3 (and the 2nd half of s2 happens) she gains a crush on the protagonist, because hes inspirational and kind. which i mean...duh. aizawa& #39;s speech tells us that ALL of the student r inspired by both deku and bakugo.

she makes a descion: shes gonna put it away for hero work. and then...she does. and we don& #39;t rlly get much of her during s4. which, yeah, sucks. (like at least show this happening horikoshi)

but her doing nothing during s4....actually comes up in universe. she couldn& #39;t save the one person she was holding in her arms. she feels guilt, probably more guilt than deku. but this time....

this time she decides to DO something. a lot of ppl forget that the JT arc happened. probably for the better lol but its important because ochako, for the first time, isnt engulfed by a crush, or showered with the responsibility of her family.

she does the right thing, FOR THE RIGHT REASONS!

and she looked sexy while doing it.

i wasn& #39;t there during the excruciating week to week experience so i actually loved this arc.

anyways, the rest of s5 basically becomes the TdDkBk show. and yeah...cool lol hope the anime adds an original episode with her at the agency (like they did with tsu during s2)

now s6, the PLW. do i even need to mention this fight? not only will she become a hero who saves heroes, but a hero who also saves villains?? like...come on bro...also shes just rlly cool in battle too

and ig we& #39;ll just ignore her LITERALLY fulfilling her rescue hero role...i mean u can do that if u want

ochako saved deku both physically and mentally multiple times. she does the best that she can to help ppl, her similarities to deku is why she& #39;s sort of the love interest!! she& #39;s just a kind, caring person who wants to help, even without a flashy quirk.

society needs correction. and who better to do that than someone who was at the bottom?

anyways, s7, the 3rd act, whatever u wanna call it, will contain some interesting emotional stakes and opportunities for this character. will she save villains? end up with deku? or toga? be a totally single girl boss? maybe we should just trust horiGOATshi

also yeah she desvered to see deku first.

1. this isnt about izuocha. like, if we went though her interactions with deku, and how irpts simple, wholesome, and just a mutual trust....i’d be here all day.

2. i didnt mention the blatant similarity between how ochako hid away her feelings, just like how toga use to. like.....like come on
