Short thread on online harassment. On Monday, a blogger called David Lindsay was sentenced at Durham Crown Court to 12 months in jail, after admitting 3 counts of harassment. After my piece was published, Lindsay was sentenced to 16-month jail term, suspended for 2 years, a community order & an indefinite criminal behaviour order. He just carried on his behaviour. I’m one of his targets, having received anon antisemitic death threat from him in 2015.
The press report of his behaviour makes clear what his 2 local victims have been through. They are a former Labour official in the NE & a safeguarding coordinator for RC diocese of Hexham & Newcastle. Lindsay sent an anon letter to the diocese falsely accusing her of child abuse.
I will be updating my earlier @CapX piece on this disturbing issue. Others targeted include @AdamWagner1, whose assassination Lindsay called for, and @lucianaberger, whom Lindsay (an antisemite & misogynist) grossly defamed. I don’t know what the answer to trolling is but....
... the issue is pressing & I’m glad this person will be serving time. He evidently thought that he was untouchable.
One last oddity: the Russian state propaganda mill @SputnikInt has actually interviewed Lindsay, depicting him as a “journalist & political commentator”.
