Had a great time at #SFB2021! My first full virtual conference of the pandemic and I think it went great! Missed in person networking but still got to meet a lot of awesome people!
Left the conference having learned so much and simultaneously feeling like i know nothing. The field of biomaterials is so spectacularly vast and creative and I& #39;m proud to be a part of it! @SFBiomaterials #SFB2021
I think I& #39;ve come out with at least 10 new half-baked ideas and I want to reach out to all of you for future collabs! #SFB2021
Very heartened to see the multiple sessions and dialogues on #DEI over the course of the whole conference, rather than leaving it to a niche topic. Inclusivity should be easy in theory but takes constant introspection and re-evaluation #sfb2021
I can& #39;t remember if it was @AnaMaPorras or @Lola_UMich who said accountability needs to start with ourselves. Lets all take what we learned and discussed outwards and onwards to our respective labs and institutions...

*Everyone* needs to be doing the work (don& #39;t leave this on black/latinx/indigenous and femme/trans/nonbinary shoulders)
Also shout out to the organizers of the Black and Latinx Voices scientific session. While some old heads might not see the value in it, I have plenty of URM students desperate to see scientists that reflect their identities. @sfb_dei
