So quick quick quick thread kinda serious kinda not https://twitter.com/janaia_jacmua/status/1384746716184854528">https://twitter.com/janaia_ja...
So yeah, sometimes when life squeezes you really really really hard, one of the options that you are left with is just detach yourself or numb out from feeling. There are multiple instances where it’s completely understandable when a person simply cannot handle their surroundings
And in that moment, they see detaching as their best option and that’s completely okay. But after a while, you become so so accustomed of not feeling anything that you forget what it means to feel.
Yeah, you don’t feel sadness and pain. Which is really amazing. But after a while, you kinda realize that you forget what real happiness is. Your view of happiness changes drastically and forget what the genuine feeling of happiness feels like.
And then when that realization hits you, it hits you like a TRUCK. And you feel everything. Maybe not all at once, but you definitely feel an incredible amount really quickly. And it does become overwhelming really quick
And you need to start to process. You need to relearn how to feel some of the more intense emotions and work that into your everyday life. Because chances are, you would’ve been going about your life extremely productive and getting your stuff done. No emotions, no stress right?
For the time being, you might’ve been right. But for a fact, all those emotions that you were detaching from or numbing out from would’ve raised their ugly head at some point in time. Usually when you’re at your worst.
Which is why it is incredibly important to keep in touch with yourself and know how you really feel. Because it is tempting to detach and to stop feeling. Personally, I become incredibly productive and full of energy to go out and do what I have to do when I numb out.
And then it hits you ALL after and it’s the worst feeling in the world. Which is why I really don’t recommend ever intentionally trying to detach unless life squeezes you incredibly hard. Sometimes, it’s your best option. Truly, it sometimes is. But that is so rare
All in all, life is really hard sometimes. You just need to keep it real with YOURSELF first and don’t lie to yourself about how you feel. Try your best to be good to yourself.
And if you do feel yourself being forced to detach Bc the world is just making you carry too much on your shoulders, don’t forget to get back in touch with yourself when that load is lifted.
To close off this thread, be kind to yourself. And be kind to others. Just be kind.

Also, just a side note. There are some cool Mario-looking things that help you with getting back in touch with yourself ;)

Maybe consider it if you feel yourself losing yourself.
