I’ve seen a lot of people on my tl telling you how to properly turn off your phone when going to a protest, and because recording protests can capture evidence of police brutality, I’d like to offer some alternatives:

take a digital camera if you have one. most don’t have gps trackers in them. also make sure you make a copy of any photos and videos you take (in case the originals get destroyed afterward)

take a burner phone. you can use an old one or buy one from a store. !! remember to remove the SIM card. you can then back up all your photos to a computer when you get home
