Understanding soccer terms, watching the game and connecting with a few coaches has made me a better hockey coach

A thread
In hockey, we often struggle to break passive forechecks/traps

Problem: We& #39;re looking to play "north and fast" when there& #39;s no advantage
Solution: If there& #39;s no advantage, build one.

Soccer teams "build-out of the back" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpAf5sli3nQ">https://www.youtube.com/watch...
Problem: Our players don& #39;t always recognize when they have an advantage

Solution: If you "drop a defender" (beat him 1v1) you& #39;ve created an advantage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np3VaiHmdJY">https://www.youtube.com/watch...
Problem: Sometimes our sport doesn& #39;t have a great term for a concept

Solution: I often find soccer does

"Half spaces, breaking lines, 2 runs, and dummy runs" paint a better picture in my head, your players might connect better too
