hi ! as a neurodivergent person i& #39;d like to talk about something that& #39;s really been getting under my skin. the "ipad kid" joke has been going too far and it& #39;s distasteful. the ipad kid stereotype was towards autistic kids as they may communicate with an app or just use it a lot.+
i had seen a tiktok where the person was blatantly mocking an autistic persons mannerisms and playing it off as an "ipad kid". i was expecting the comments to be with my mindset and see how wrong it was, but everyone was agreeing and laughing and taking the joke even further+
saying things like "they always have headphones on too". this is harmful as a nd to see because that& #39;s something that helps me. technology connects me to reality and grounds myself and seeing people mock and make fun of it really sucked. call me sensitive, say i& #39;m overreacting +
or whatever but it& #39;s really been bugging me. not just this tiktok tho ! i see it a lot within the mcyt community calling quackity an ipad kid which isn& #39;t very harmful in itself but it does go too far when people blatantly make fun of neurodivergent mannerisms :/ +
