BOOKSTORES OF THE PLANET EARTH! Or, well, bookstores of mostly North America.

We know that you are suffering during COVID, and I would like to do what little I can to help! So I am once again doing a PRE-ORDER CAMPAIGN for independent bookstores.
If you would like to participate, and you are an independent bookstore, meaning you not part of a chain with more than a dozen locations, with a physical storefront of some sort that is being endangered by COVID-19...
..please email through my website indicating that you intend to take pre-orders for WHEN SORROWS COME, and we will put you on a list. (It would be great if you could also tell us how many pre-orders you expect, based on sales of earlier books.)
We will then email the list a week before book release to check how many pre-orders you have, and then send you some of these pins to send out as freebies for anyone who has pre-ordered a book.
The pins will not be watermarked, obviously. They are also super-limited, as I am paying for them now for a book coming out in September, and can& #39;t estimate numbers, but this is a good way for you to do something nice for your readers, and for me to do something nice for you!
This is opt-in for bookstores; no one is going to force you. @PortalBookshop has already said they& #39;ll be participating, and I hope many others will as well, but I don& #39;t have a way to contact every indie bookstore with an SF/F focus.
Because people have asked: no, these pins will not be for sale. If you want one, you must pre-order a copy of the book from a participating bookstore.
Based on last year, this is when people start asking, "How do we get pins?" Here is how:

1. Be an independent bookstore.
2. Email through my website contact form.
3. When asked, tell us how many pre-orders you sold.
4. Receive pins via mail about a week later.

That& #39;s it!
But--and this is VERY IMPORTANT--that& #39;s also THE ONLY WAY. Telling me on Twitter that you want pins? Nope. Emailing my publisher directly? Nope. Breaking into my house? Nope, they aren& #39;t here yet.

YOU MUST EMAIL THROUGH MY WEBSITE.
I will have a list of participating bookstores in roughly mid April, when we close sign-ups. We did this last year, and it went very well. We& #39;re hoping even more stores will join us this time!
YES, this is open to international stores, as well as stores in North America! Wherever you are, if you& #39;re taking pre-orders, we& #39;re happy to send you pins. YES, the pins are free. YES, postage is why this may be the last year the offer is global (sorry).
All right: re-upping this thread to say that we will be closing our list of bookstores on FRIDAY, APRIL 22ND. So if your store wants FREE, AWESOME PRE-ORDER PINS to give to your customers, please contact us through my website contact form by then!
I am in no way joking about either "free" or "awesome." All you have to do is use my website contact form to get on the list. That& #39;s it. You don& #39;t even have to pay postage. Help us help you!
(And I do mean "help you." Last year& #39;s pre-order campaign drove a lot of customers to participating indie bookstores. We won& #39;t pay your rent on one midlist hardcover, but we can help pay some salaries.)
...sorry, FRIDAY, APRIL 23RD. What is time, really?
