Michigan& #39;s Board of State Canvassers has certified the state& #39;s Nov. 3 election in a 3-0 vote, with 1 Republican abstaining.

Voting advocates who worked hard to mobilize Black voters, especially in Detroit, tell me they are relieved but will remain vigilant for future elections.

They said this can& #39;t be lost: The fact the election results-- with a focus on Detroit/Wayne County-- were even in danger of being certified is cause for alarm, undermines democracy and is an outright form of voter suppression & attempt to delegitimize Black votes in this country.

Just going to remind folks again: Black folks have only been federally guaranteed the right to vote for 55 years.

Fifty-five. Years.

This is being framed as a victory for Biden and a blow to Trump. We really need frame it specifically through the lens of the attempted disenfranchisement of Black voters.
