The wildest part about the "let people enjoy things" retort is that...acknowledging the truth of a situation and applying the proper language to it shouldn& #39;t cause this much defensiveness.

I think it becomes really unsettling to people when we apply proper language to ground things that we become used to softening as a matter of practice, & that also applies outside of this election cycle. It creates tensions that you can& #39;t just tip toe around. Hence blowback.
