To start, i use Ibis Paint X bc it’s free haha, import the picture you’d like to edit. I used Josuke cos i headcanon him as darkskinned :)

Once you’ve imported the picture that you want to edit. create two new layers. Set layer 2 to multiply and turn on clipping for layer 3.
color pick the skintone and use the fill bucket tool on layer 2 wherever skin is exposed, the fill bucket isn’t perfect so there will be gaps and bleeds, but they’re fixed easily with the eraser and any regular brush
pick your preferred skintone for your character and with the airbrush pen on 1000x, brush over the skin until it is your preferred darkness.
In doing this, the gaps that the fill bucket missed will show more clearly, to fix them, go back on the second layer with+

and press the eye so you can turn layer 2 off. then color pick the original skintone again and press the eye again to bring layer 2 back
i like to add blush and lips, for lips, color pick the now darkened skintone and use it to outline and fill in lips on the 2nd layer. for blush, use skintone appropriate blush color w/ the airbrush at around 300x on the 3rd layer
now your fave looks like your headcanon or even you !!
