This is disappointing, but not surprising. Gatekeepers still exist, & sometimes it means gatekeeping resources that members need after sexual misconduct. The leadership has been clear. Sexual misconduct has no place in our midst. But for some reason people aren& #39;t getting this 1/X https://twitter.com/Murray_Brewster/status/1319242194256121856">https://twitter.com/Murray_Br...
The mentality that a mbr reporting must be lying persists. The perception that believing mbrs a misconduct occurs would impact Op effectiveness exists. The belief that a trusted mbr of your unit couldn& #39;t have committed a sexual misconduct because they& #39;re a "good guy" exists 2/x
The reality is that even "good" mbrs of your team are capable of commiting sexual misconduct. #Believe #Listen #Act : anything short of doing those things and you& #39;re not a leader, no matter what position or rank you hold. 3/x
The reality is that the probability a mbr is lying about a misconduct is infinitesimally small. Study after study shows that "false" claims make up a fraction of a percent of reporting. Unsubstantiated claims DO NOT equal False claims. A mbr may not have proof. #Listen anyway 4/x
If you think losing a "good" mbr of your unit impacts Op effectiveness, wait until you see what a lack of trust in the CoC does to it. People don& #39;t leave bad jobs, they leave bad bosses; imagine reporting a low performer to your boss and you get dressed down. Would you stay? 5/x
Now imagine you told your boss you& #39;d been punched in the face by another team mbr and YOU get punished. Would you ever trust that person again? #Listen #Believe #Act because anything less is NOT Leadership. 6/x
I don& #39;t know who needs to read this, but you can do better. If you& #39;ve failed your people in the past it& #39;s not too late to do better. You need to. We& #39;re counting on you. If you& #39;ve failed your people in the past and have no intention of changing then get out. We don& #39;t need you. 7/x
That& #39;s how we make the @CanadianForces an employer of choice. It& #39;s how we build trust b/t our mbrs. That& #39;s how we retain the best. Because if a mbr commits sexual misconduct they& #39;re not the best. I serve amongst some of the best. Ask yourself if you& #39;re one of them. 8/8
