Today, you can easily choose your own search engine or download an app in a matter of seconds. The DOJ is wrongly claiming Americans aren’t sophisticated enough to do this.
Just like a cereal brand might pay a supermarket to stock its products on a shelf at eye level, we pay to promote our services, as do countless other businesses. But this is not exclusive: Bing and Yahoo! also pay Apple to feature prominently. And it’s easy to change your search engine.
On Windows devices, Google is nowhere to be found: Microsoft preloads its Edge browser onto Windows devices and Bing is the default search engine.
