What SHOULD public engagement on LSMATS have looked like? Let& #39;s see what @IRLDeptPER Consultation Principles document (2016) says. 1/ https://twitter.com/LimerickCycling/status/1318112445081202690">https://twitter.com/LimerickC...
Public consultation by any state body (like @TFIupdates) should abide by 3 principles. First, that it should be "genuine, meaningful, timely," and "achieve real listening, not being a pro-forma exercise for bureaucratic purposes." https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😬" title="Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😬" title="Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😬" title="Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht">2/
Second, it should be targeted at people with an interest in the subject (which in this case, would be everyone, as we& #39;re all impacted by transport) AND it should consider particularly the marginalised & vulnerable (so - no, a random phoneline probably won& #39;t cut it) 3/
And third, systematic efforts should be made to engage affected parties at all stages of the consultation process. SYSTEMATIC EFFORTS. Here& #39;s the relevant passage below 4/

Consultation on LSMATS has been shoddy. Lk groups have engaged faithfully and diligently - WE HAVE BEEN AT SO MANY MEETINGS - but we& #39;ve no assurance that our insights will be used. Our call for ministerial review is the only option we now have. 5/5
