Just a fun story that happened to me and a question I& #39;d like to answer :

A shady chinese brand offered me to pay only 8€ for a 500 Go external HDD.
Well, why not ? I buy it. I receive it, it works (surprisingly) well.
But then I think : "Let& #39;s dig for deleted files"

So I use a Windows tool to recover those deleted files and ... I found a full bootable partition, with all the files, including Firefox& #39;s passwords.

It seems that this hdd used to belong to K12 school in Missouri and somehow ended up in the hands of this chinese company

So now, the question is :

How the hell did a hard drive that used to belong to an american school ended up in an external hard drive sold by a shady chinese comany ?

As someone told me on Discord :
Drill your HDD before throwing them away.

Also, I& #39;m now tempted to buy more, just to see what I can find inside.
