People who haven& #39;t had complex mental illness during mental illness awareness times are always like "go get help, lolz" not knowing the many layers and complications. Finding a good psychologist/psychiatrist is really difficult and unaffordable, and that& #39;s only the FIRST step...

There should be more conversations about how MANY mental health professionals mistreat or reject patients. That needs to stop. I& #39;ve seen people desperately try to get help, and they& #39;re treated so badly by these mental health "professionals" that it kills them.
And then we talk about these things like "yeah that& #39;s just a thing that happens." If someone is reaching out for help and they get treated like crap by the person who is supposed to help them, our response shouldn& #39;t be so casual. We should all be livid that this is so common.
Next, even if you& #39;re fortunate enough to find a good psych you can afford, you might be told you& #39;re "treatment resistant."
There can be so many reasons why a patient might be "treatment resistant," it& #39;s not a diagnosis on its own. It& #39;s complex.
I guess all I& #39;m trying to say is that "getting help" for mental illness is just not as easy as we make it sound. It& #39;s not as easy as just asking for help, or just trying harder or something. Getting help isn& #39;t even an option for some people.
When talking about mental illness awareness it& #39;s important to talk about the lack of true support, and the dangers of unfit doctors/professionals in the field.
