/ Once again we have the most inexplicable disconnect in #JoblessClaims. This morning& #39;s Initial (yes, INITIAL) Jobless Claims came in at 840k (a 9k drop from last week) while Continuing Claims dropped 1m to 10.9m from 11.9m, meaning IN ONE WEEK 849k + 250k got jobs. Really?
/ That no one, and I mean no one, questions this bizarre weekly #JoblessClaims behavior is just astounding. Not a single person has been able to reconcile this months long bizarre behavior. In fact, no one even questions it anymore (to the extent it was ever questioned).
/ It& #39;s almost as if no one really wants to know or understand why there is a massive disconnect between Initial #JoblessClaims, #Continuing #JoblessClaims and the monthly #Unemployment data. Financial journalists simply accept the data at face value w/o so much as a question.
/ You& #39;d think @NickTimiraos @jeannasmialek @JamesPoliti @ChrisRugaber @byHeatherLong @boes_ or a journalist covering #Fed chair #Powell& #39;s monthly pressers or covering or #FOMC would ask, but nope. Read the transcripts of those press conferences. NOT A SINGLE QUESTION.
/5 It& #39;s as if @NickTimiraos @jeannasmialek @JamesPoliti @ChrisRugaber @byHeatherLong @boes_ are afraid to press #Fed chair #Powell or, worse, they don& #39;t actually see or understand how bizarrely irreconcilable #JoblessClaims data is. (Please retweet this thread.)
