Hey #therapist twitter. Let& #39;s talk about some of the things therapists should NOT do during a session. Patients aren& #39;t always necessarily aware that some of these things that some therapists do just aren& #39;t ok. What are red flags a patient should look out for?

I& #39;ll start: A therapist shouldn& #39;t overshare personal info. If you find that they always talk about their own problems/ life in great detail, there& #39;s something wrong. A good therapist can make themselves relatable without diving into the gritty details of their own life.
Over the years, I& #39;ve even had patients say things like "well you wouldn& #39;t know anything about this of course" when in reality I& #39;ve been through the EXACT thing they& #39;re experiencing. But, I never divulge that. Instead I use my experience and training to help inform their treamtent
