I went for a wedding. few hours into the ceremony,a pregnant woman that sat close to me beckoned at me with pain all over her face. She leaned and whispered “excuse me ma i think I’m in labour,please help me”. You kidding right?

I quickly introduced myself as a doctor & with her permission,placed my hand on the fundus of the uterus,mehn the contractions were about 4 in 3mins 45 secs, i called for her husband who was busy sharing drinks and he started booking taxify. This can’t wait any longer so

I drove,honked incessantly,screamed at other drivers and at the same time i could hear myself saying “madam just breathe you will be fine’”, i said sorry a million time.

Trust Apo traffic na,i was frustrated. Husband got down to go meet the traffic warden and explain our situation so that we could move. Next thing i heard was “my water don break”, i still continued with my sorry. Few mins later I heard “i wan shit”.
Me: Egbami o, God help me

with the help of the traffic warden we quickly got to the hospital. She was wheeled in immediately to the labour room,i stood outside and few mins later,i heard the cry of a baby. Small tears dropped from this strong woman’s eyeshttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙈" title="Nichts sehen-Affe" aria-label="Emoji: Nichts sehen-Affe">. I was so happy

I finally spoke with the doctor who told me she had a “precipitate labour “(biko ask your google don’t disturb mehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙄" title="Gesicht mit rollenden Augen" aria-label="Emoji: Gesicht mit rollenden Augen">)and was grateful we got there on time. I held the lil boy’s hand and felt this joy like never before.
Lesson: happiness springs from doing good and helping others.
