This is a wonderful articulation of the version of Classics that I fell in love with, for which I am periodically terrified that the SLA-oriented teaching practices I am trying to embrace will leave no room. https://twitter.com/lislanna/status/1310960004380454924">https://twitter.com/lislanna/...
It may be that this is just something I& #39;m going to have to accept; that moving to a new paradigm will be of sufficient benefit to a large enough cross-section of my students, that what I, personally, fell in love with is relatively unimportant.
But there will inevitably be an aching nostalgia -- the memory that studying the grammatical structure of ancient languages brought me something that no mere language class ever has, something that I at one time numbered among my most valuable possessions.
I don& #39;t really know what I& #39;m doing here. I guess that where I& #39;ve ended up has left me feeling lonely and a little alienated, and this thread made me feel that way a little bit less, and I guess I just wanted to thank @lislanna for that.
