Thread on Chelsea& #39;s consistency.

It& #39;s obvious that Chelsea aren& #39;t a consistent team under Frank Lampard.

Consider this:

Chelsea have kept a clean sheet in 9 PL games since Lampard took over.

Chelsea have also let in 3 or more goals in a single game 9 times (all comps).

...
The funny thing about PL winning teams is that they& #39;re so good over the course of a season but they& #39;re incredibly predictable.

Everyone knows Liverpool will play 433 just like we knew 17& #39; City would play 433, 16& #39; Chelsea would play 343 & 15& #39; Leicester would play 442.
Lampard seems to change his formation almost every game and no one can guess the next change.

In 2019/20 here& #39;s how many PL games Chelsea started with a certain formation:

343 - 8
4231 - 12
433 - 18

In comparison:

19& #39; Liverpool 433 - 34
17& #39; City 433 - 34
16& #39; Chelsea 343 - 32
What makes things worse is that as Lampard& #39;s changing the formation he& #39;s changing the defenders almost each game leaving little room for any consistency or chemistry.

In his 41 PL games Lampard has tried 20 different back 4 combinations. Check this out:

Someone might ask about injuries. Chelsea& #39;s longest injuries were:

Rüdiger - 18 games
Christensen: 5 games

Other teams face injuries too, example Liverpool:

Matip: 20 games
Lovren: 11 games

L& #39;pool have just as many CBs as Chelsea, but they found consistency between injuries.
But here is what I want people to know:

These teams & managers needed time to get to where they are.

Guardiola& #39;s managed the biggest and the best.

Conte was a Serie A veteran before Chelsea.

Klopp started managing in 2001, the same year Lampard joined Chelsea as a player.
A little more on that. Consider this:

Pep won the CL in his 1st year of management, INCREDIBLE achievement.

But, he joined a team that had the luxury of selling Ronaldinho so they could play Lionel Messi instead.

Just honestly compare that to Chelsea& #39;s squad.
Lampard& #39;s literally just getting started with young team that& #39;s growing alongside him.

We& #39;ve tried the route of established veterans and it& #39;s worked at times but other times it& #39;s failed miserably.

Chelsea are finally building from the ground up. Let& #39;s trust the process.
