Nothing about this works for me. J.J. Abrams and Terrio criminally ignore everything that happened in THE LAST JEDI. Luke isn& #39;t "The spark that will burn the First Order down" it& #39;s horny Lando. Poe didn& #39;t learn vital lessons how to lead, he nearly dooms the fleet again. It& #39;s bad. https://twitter.com/jtimsuggs/status/1310025739610316800">https://twitter.com/jtimsuggs...
The fact horny Lando inspires the entire galaxy *off camera* is just vinegar poured in the wound. It& #39;s like Abrams and Terrio were scared to mention Luke& #39;s sacrifice at all (why??), which is impressively bad when it would& #39;ve just been more logical, economical storytelling. Alas.
Also this is just hideous. The whole "battle" (most of which is off-screen?) has none of the visual beauty or balance of Lucas& #39; CGI fleets in the prequels. "It& #39;s so dense" to the nth degree.
Abrams learns nothing from the best battles of the saga. It& #39;s the worst battle in all of Star Wars. A montage of nothing. If you want a mess of toy kit ships to matter, you need to give us hero moments to make us care. That& #39;s what drums up genuine suspense, like this:
I hate that the Naboo Starfighters joining the battle is reduced to a READY PLAYER ONE easter egg and not a meaningful call back that would help unite the whole saga
TL;DR they just didn& #39;t care
