The responses from black men to this tweet are forgetting about the larger, systemic ways powerful men (who need an heir) do cape for marriage.

In both cases (wealthy or not) it& #39;s men making sure they& #39;re with women on their terms (not the women& #39;s) which is one of the reasons why birth control is such a fight.

Because if women can control when they have babies, they can have more control over when they leave men.

In summary: poor men don& #39;t care about marriage because they don& #39;t have concerns about passing on wealth. They do, however, want the domestic benefits of marriage without the covenant.

A *smart woman* doesn& #39;t just not get married. A smart woman, who wants romantic relationships with men, figures out how to have them on HER terms.
