I& #39;m interested in how everybody is quoting this now that most people got angry at JKR and are done with her, but not earlier when Le Guin actually said it. https://twitter.com/ldrinkh20/status/1307519066001879040">https://twitter.com/ldrinkh20...
Let& #39;s not even pretend that Le Guin herself was without flaw, but let me tell you where I see the difference. In UKL& #39;s original Earthsea, there was a wizarding school. Women could not be admitted. She faced criticism on this and other things, she thought about the criticism - 1/
.over the years, in fiction works as well as in essays, Le Guin *deconstructed her own world,* critiqued it harshly HERSELF and in various ways, and ultimately dismantled everything she built in the original Earthsea in response to these critiques.
That, for me, is power. 2/

However, many (most?) people still only know Le Guin& #39;s first Earthsea books, not the lifelong self-deconstruction, which, from my perspective is extremely valuable, brave, important, and above all, rare.
