(1) To everyone who watched, contributed, and even just checked out what we’re doing to see if it’s real and why, from the innermost layer of our hearts, thank you. Our fest started seven years ago with a few people wanting to see something that was simply a quick joke become a
(2) reality, and, through some combination of luck and fate, other people showed up. Those few people that did come back in 2014, a few dozen at most, injected an energy and passion into the fest that allowed it to go from being a simple one-off event in Demetral Park back in
(3) 2014 to an annual event that has grown to having hundreds of people annually attend, many telling us that it’s the day of the year they look forward to the most. We’ve had interviews from media both local and across the globe, and had visitors come from the other side of the
(4) world, just to attend what most would have written off as a silly little joke.
2020 gave us a whole new set of challenges to overcome with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing our hand, leading us to make the painful but wholly necessary decision to move the fest online for this

(5) year. Like so many other times, we were flying blind, having no idea if we’d have enough submissions or interests to even bother holding the fest, or if not being a place for people to gather in person would lead to the end of what we’ve poured so much of our hearts and souls

Thankfully, this would prove to be far from the case. Submissions flooded our inbox, and we were able to build a fest as longer than any we’d held in person, all thanks to everyone who wanted to keep being a part of this dream we’ve all had. Seeing submissions from

(7) around the world, knowing that people who could never come to Madison being able to participate, this truly made it a special fest in its own right. This fest brings all of us on the staff just as much joy as everyone having the time of their life attending, and we’re truly
(8) touched that people from around the globe were able to share in this fun.
