Have to say I do not agree with what& #39;s being said here. If you& #39;re from a scheme, have experience with alcoholism etc and want to write about that then absolutely do it. These are stories that deserve to be told and there& #39;s space for them. https://twitter.com/pgmcq/status/1307197414177214464">https://twitter.com/pgmcq/sta...
Suppose there is an argument to be made here that these sorts of stories are what publishers want just now. But it& #39;s hard enough for working class writers to break through without then having people deride and look down on them for the things they write about
I& #39;ve had people in the industry patronise me, question my intelligence, undermine me, make comments about my education etc. Look at that then just imagine how much worse it is working class women and POC coming through.
Working class people who go on to become successful in the arts find people constantly questioning how they managed it, as if it& #39;s either a miracle or they& #39;re not really working class or something. It& #39;s not an understatement to say the publishing industry is a hostile environment
Write what you want, tell your stories and show folk how good you are and how you deserve to be where you are.
Anyway, what do I know. I& #39;m just the son of a pair of millionaire Jordanhill doctors
