My hot take on the Middle Eastern & #39;peace& #39; deals (aside from the obvious fact it& #39;s only being done as an Evangelical vote grab):

It& #39;s probably not a great sign that illiberal countries in the Middle East are now cool with Israel now that Israel is becoming increasingly illiberal.

The convergence of at best questionable, ally of convenience regimes like Bahrain with what was the shining beacon of democracy in the region isn& #39;t because the questionable ones have gotten better.

(I& #39;m not subtweeting anyone but I feel I should post this disclaimer because right as the first tweet of this thread showed up in my TL there was a mutual posting an opposite reaction. I wouldn& #39;t do a mutual dirty like that intentionally.)
