Idk if I have sangatsu moots but I wanted to put my thoughts on the similarities and differences between Hina and Tohru from sangatsu no lion and fruits basket and why I look up to them both. +
First, they& #39;ve both experienced the loss of their parents (specifically their mom). For Tohru this left her feeling like she& #39;s been abandoned and she& #39;s afraid of being alone, so she goes out of her way to put others before herself and put her emotions to sleep. +
For Hina it has made her feel lonely and insecure, but she does not mute her feelings the way Tohru does. Instead she lets them out in places where no one will see her in pain. e.g. the bridge scene at night when Rei found her sobbing for her mother. Hina is a lot more in touch +
with her negative feelings than Tohru. The reason for that might be because she still has adult figures in her life that care for her, like her big sis Akari and her gramps. (I think Akari is actually a lot like Tohru too.) They allow her to express her feelings while Tohru +
didn& #39;t really have anyone like that after losing her mom. Tohru basically has zero sense of self worth. She doesn& #39;t value her self or her emotions, and only thinks of others. Hina will stand up for herself when necessary, but she is still a strong defender of her friends. +
They& #39;re both unafraid of the consequences when it comes to standing up for others. For example, Tohru when Akito was bullying Momiji, or Hina when the school bullies were tormenting her childhood friend. The only difference is that Hina is willing to get physical and straight up+
tackle the bullies and fight them (like a queen

Another similarity is they& #39;re both poor and want to skip college to go straight to work to support themselves financially. They& #39;re both strong characters in their own way. But the thing that makes me admire them the most +
is what they represent to other characters. To many characters in Fruits Basket (Kisa, Rin, Yuki) Tohru is a mother figure, gentle and caring, who provides comfort and ease. The other characters are able to let their guard down and open their hearts to her.
In Sangatsu no Lion, Hina is a strong, brave hero figure that Rei looks up to, even though she& #39;s younger than him by a few years. He sees himself as a child who is being spurred on by her kind and courageous energy. +
And I relate to both Yuki and Rei in this regard. These relationships in anime make me the most emotional because it& #39;s something that I can relate to a lot in real life. Finding comfort in a friend/companion and picturing them as a sort of mother figure, even if they& #39;re the same+
age as me. In conclusion I love Tohru and Hina a lot, they are brave and strong and stand as comforting figures for the two characters I think I relate to a lot (Yuki and Rei)!!
