#kakairu
one of the main reasons kakairu appeals to me is how two people, who lost their family very young, are able to find a new one with each other. this is pretty much their appeal in general: being father figures to naruto.
But Iruka doesn’t reach out to Kakashi about his troubles with Naruto. It’s Kakashi who, despite the sort of emotional mask he puts on, shows up as someone willing to listen when iruka needs it. He even goes out of his way to ask him if he’s okay, as though he was worried.
now for how they ARE compatible as characters. i’ve seen people assume Iruka would be “too domestic” for Kakashi. and while not only is that what Kakashi needs to balance him/his lifestyle out, it’s not accurate.
like, this man nearly had a panic attack at reading aloud “i really love you.” to me that does not sound like a character that wouldn’t secretly love to come home to a devoted partner.
and iruka isn’t some soft spoken, boring teacher. he’s stubborn, and stands up to his ideals. even up against /the/ copy ninja. he’s got guts. i’m pretty sure most people would not have it in them to stand up to kakashi. and definitely not publicly.
yes iruka is stubborn, but it’s because he cares incredibly deeply, and to a fault. that’s what kakashi would need in a partner - someone who has a heart kind enough to see him not as a killer, not as the copy ninja, but a human with trauma, with a heart just like everyone else.
notice how as it states for kakashi (alongside being surprisingly domestic), he protects his partner with love...
and furthermore, kakashi values iruka. he sees his strength and his potential to better their village with his skill set. as different as they may be, he respects iruka and sees his importance and impact on the village.
kakashi seeks out to touch iruka at nearly any given chance, but kakashi doesn’t seem like a touchy person. often you see him holding his book/ a weapon/ keeping his hands to himself. almost as though he’s afraid he can only use his body as the weapon he was trained to be.
