Gonna be honest. SRB2 suffers from 2 major problems that take the experience down for me. (Thread)
Let& #39;s start off with the first major problem. The controls and how it flows with platforming. Sonic& #39;s acceleration feels weirdly busted. You get to your top speed so fast and maintain that top speed too much between jumps that it makes platforming really annoying. The camera
control does not help this at all. Playing this game with a controller does not feel right at all so you gotta play with PC and Mouse which creates a new problem. Mouse camera controls is usually good for FPS because you need to focus your aim or snap the camera immediately to
fight back or turn and throw. This would be good for Sonic in theory but in execution it does not work imo. You snap WAY too fast for it to flow normally and WASD doesn& #39;t allow for a smooth turn at high speeds. This makes the first playthrough a chore to go through as Sonic and
you& #39;ll end up dying or missing stuff alot because you fell off at a corner you were going to fast, you couldn& #39;t see properly because the camera turns your angle and body, or no time to correct yourself. It really just doesn& #39;t work UNLESS you know the stage and you& #39;ve played
through it so much that it becomes non existent to you but that shouldn& #39;t be the case. Extra playthroughs should only enhance the experience not fix it. Yes you can play as Tails and it becomes easier to manage your speed but that makes it all the more worse when you have to go
back and play as Sonic because you won& #39;t be use to it at all. The second major problem is the stage design. While I compliment it being alot more full than other fan games that feel like Forces 2 with how linear they are. But the problem here is that there is no proper flow or
feeling of stage progression. I can& #39;t tell if I& #39;m near the start of the stage, the middle chunk of the stage, or near the end because it all feels like one giant maze. You& #39;ll have times where you have to stop and think where you are because everything looks the same and feels
the same. That and so many parts don& #39;t feel optimized for Sonic& #39;s speed. They feel like something I would find in SA1 which would work if we had SA1 physics and speed but we don& #39;t so you& #39;ll find yourself flinging through obstacles, missing platforms because you& #39;re going
too fast, or having to sit there and figure out how you& #39;re supposed to get past the obstacle. It really doesn& #39;t feel right and makes the stages feel more like hub worlds than an actual stage. So yeah SRB2. I applaud the developers for everything they& #39;ve done and this is one of
the better fan games but these problems I have really take it down for me and at while it has improved over the years it doesn& #39;t feel fixed. It just feels like duck tape + super glue trying to hold a part of a plane that& #39;s about to fall off.
If you want some positives literally everything else about the game is great and I vibe with this Tails
