I guess patriotism as a concept has never made much sense to me. The only moment of patriotism I ever had was when I saw the clips of CAA protesters at Red fort and Jantar Mantar sing & #39;Jana gana mana& #39; and & #39;saare jahan se accha& #39;. That night I was particularly very emotional-
for various reasons ofcourse but most importantly because I felt this intangible sense of attachment and devotion for my country which was heading for a dangerous future and a group of people I felt connected to as they were being mercilessly attacked by religious fanatics-
But did I feel the same when thousands of Palestinians were protesting against Israeli annexation plan or many other humanitarian crises in the world? The tears that rolled down my face when I saw police brutalities during the Delhi pogrom should& #39;ve poured when I saw a clip of-
an Israeli soldier kneeling on this protester& #39;s neck. To believe that there are feelings for a land and a group of people because one was born there and to fall into this inextricable and toxic circle of biased feelings which make us act as if certain lives are-
more important than others as comforting as it sounds, should not be acceptable and it goes without saying but patriotism divides more people than it actually unifies.
