One thing we don& #39;t talk about enough in terms of public access to information: court transcripts. Just got the quote from a court reporter for the transcript of a 2010 murder trial. $12,000

Relatively high compared to other trial transcripts I& #39;ve gotten, but I typically expect to be writing a check for about $1k if I need a murder trial transcript (and can& #39;t find it in the appeals docket/get someone to leak it to me).

Not the fault of the court reporters - they didn& #39;t invent this system. But seems wrong that it& #39;s cost prohibitive for the average American to know/learn what happens in "open" court
