Obviously Billy Joel& #39;s "We Didn& #39;t Start the Fire" is one of the low points of Western civilization, but what& #39;s worse was the spate of articles & interviews at the time, breathlessly giving Joel credit for writing this "educational" song that kids could learn about history from.

I& #39;m not sure what made me think of this tonight. Somehow "Lawrence of Arabia / British Beatlemania" popped into my head while I was making my bed and I became enraged anew.

I was a high school senior when it came out, on Long Island, no less, and all we did was make fun of it. WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO SAY?
