Why is our 0.7% International Aid budget commitment important?

THREAD - Just a few reasons below:

1. Our majority-winning manifesto said: "We will proudly maintain our commitment to spend 0.7% of GNI on development". Scrapping this will show our government to be untrustworthy
2. It is Britain& #39;s moral duty to protect the most vulnerable in the world. Individuals suffering across the world rely on Britain& #39;s commitment to spending this money.

3. Our aid budget is beneficial for Britain& #39;s soft-power. This is vital to making a powerful #GlobalBritain https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🇬🇧" title="Flagge des Vereinigten Königreiches" aria-label="Emoji: Flagge des Vereinigten Königreiches">
4. Taking the poorest individuals & countries out of poverty will improve Britain& #39;s trading relations around the world, thereby directly improving our economy & the living standards of the British public.

5. Cutting aid fuels unstable & corrupt regimes, harming British interests
6. Our aid budget helps to stabilise countries, thereby reducing the number of economic refugees having to come to Europe & therefore Britain.

Please @BorisJohnson & @DominicRaab - don& #39;t let this government become nationalistic, closed-minded & untrustworthy.
Thank you to the@Conservatives, whether on our #OneNation #LiberalConservatives side or not, & in other parties, for fighting to keep this pledge. @MoreUnitedUK
