Y& #39;all so mad about voting b/c u have unrealistic expectations about what voting does

Voting won& #39;t stop racism, but it could put ppl in charge that makes racist more accountable

It won& #39;t end oppression but it can put ppl in position to address real issues

Part of the problem is the ppl advocating voting. They set poor expectations

They point out all the bad & say "if u want it to end, vote" that& #39;s unrealistic

"Your ancestors died to vote" that& #39;s too much pressure & some feel disconnected to that past

What we need to say is voting is only part of our political expression. Although it is important, it will not immediately solve all our issues. No politician is our savior

Vote to put ppl in place that will listen & know your issues

If we set realistic expectations & increase political education we could actually make more political change

Voting is 1-day. It does not stop u from doing any community work
Voting does not make u less Black or less of a conscious person

Voting doesn& #39;t hurt u but it could help
