this is even more alien to me than the & #39;former gifted child& #39; discourse. depression functional? lolwut
I had medication for about a year-something for recurrent depression episodes and never again after, and it fixed it/allowed me to change in a way that was as good as fixing it https://twitter.com/ed_hagen/status/1299364003626381318">https://twitter.com/ed_hagen/...

OBVIOUSLY my experience is just an anecdote, but it seems those responding to medication are close to half of those taking it. & #39;few tangible benefits& #39; is just false, although I guess people need to signal themselves as underdogs vs. Big Pharma or whatever
this isn& #39;t about evolutionary approaches to mental health in general. I find byproduct ideas for mania or psychosis much more plausible. but this one just makes me scream NOO WHAT ARE YOU SAYING at papers. one actually *encouraged* rumination because of the functional assumption!
