That Briahna Joy Gray thinks it will be easier to mount (and win) a progressive presidential campaign in 2024 if Biden loses this November illustrates the core problem with electoral leftism that is willfully indifferent to Trump& #39;s abuse of power.
For some reason, people like her think that if it& #39;s Bernie instead of Biden in the driver& #39;s seat, the enthusiasm around Bernie& #39;s candidacy would make all of Trump and the GOP& #39;s efforts to deny the franchise....irrelevant. And I mean, it& #39;s ludicrous.
Based on where and how Biden won in & #39;20, we know that a lot of Sanders& #39; & #39;16 support amounted to a kind of negative partisanship -- people voting against Clinton more so than for Sanders. So, there& #39;s no reason to believe enthusiasm would overcome structural barriers to the ballot.
But, let& #39;s put a pin in that. How could one possibly think Trump getting a second term wouldn& #39;t have any impact on how elections are conducted etc in this country for the foreseeable future? Where has Gray been the past 4 years -- the past 4 months even? My god.
