For the disability community, this is not the @JoeBiden & @KamalaHarris position. It simply isn& #39;t. https://twitter.com/chick_in_kiev/status/1299417688758984705">https://twitter.com/chick_in_...
It& #39;s absolutely no secret that @JoeBiden was not my choice in the Democratic primary.

My work? Substantively advised 3 campaigns on disability policy: @JulianCastro, @ewarren, and @BernieSanders.

You& #39;ll notice that @JoeBiden isn& #39;t in that list.

But here& #39;s the important thing
I& #39;ve sat in substantive policy meetings with @JoeBiden& #39;s top policy advisers. Hell, I& #39;ve sat in on a meeting with the Vice President himself.

Here& #39;s what I can tell you: @JoeBiden has made substantive policy commitments that will vastly improve the lives of disabled Americans
Here& #39;s @JoeBiden& #39;s disability plan. If you haven& #39;t checked it out yet, I strongly encourage you to do so.

It includes codifying Olmstead, ending institutional bias in Medicaid, expanding HCBS, getting rid of 14c, stopping prior auths and step therapy, https://joebiden.com/disabilities/# ">https://joebiden.com/disabilit...
. @JoeBiden has committed to ending the #HCBS waiting list disgrace*

*There are more than 800k disabled Americans stuck on WAITING LISTS to receive the vital long term services & supports they need at home, in their own community. Biden has committed to end the waiting lists.
So yes, @JoeBiden has an affirmative, positive agenda for disabled and chronically ill Americans.

But I also want to talk about what it means that Biden is not Trump, as someone who has dedicated the last 4 years of my life to fighting the Trump admin

This was pre-pandemic:
If you& #39;ve been following me, you know that I& #39;ve been working on #COVID19 since February. (Again, I can& #39;t search my own tweets, so you& #39;ll have to take my word for it if you& #39;re new https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷‍♂️" title="Achselzuckender Mann" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckender Mann">)
We mobilized the best people in the disability policy world to try to save lives of people in congregate settings – including nursing "homes"

Trump admin? Ignored us & the lives of human beings warehoused in SNFs. Today? According to @CMSgov, 49,871 people have died in SNFs
This month, Trump also declared war on Social Security Disability Insurance ( #SSDI).

If Trump is allowed to get his way, #SSDI will END in the middle of 2021. There will be NO MORE #SSDI payments. https://twitter.com/mattbc/status/1298272566725885953?s=20">https://twitter.com/mattbc/st...
I say this as someone who led commenting fights to defend #Medicaid (a program I rely on as a chronically ill, disabled patient to keep me alive) against regulatory attack:

We cannot successfully defend Medicaid against administrative attacks for another 4 years. We will lose.
I& #39;m not in the cheap seats on this – #Medicaid is literally life and death for me.

That @JoeBiden is not Donald Trump? That is the difference between @cosetthetable having to bury me

or not.
I& #39;ve heard a lot of people saying "vote for the candidate that you want as your opponent" – and that& #39;s a line of argument I fully respect.

Especially since I was one of about four or five people outside of the Biden campaign who made this happen:
And so, for me, this election comes down to this choice:

Under President @JoeBiden, I can marry my love

Under another four years of Donald Trump, she& #39;ll almost certainly have to bury me.
( I am more than happy to talk to press about @JoeBiden & @KamalaHarris on healthcare and disability. )
