Our public education system is forced to teach students how to take tests, not how to apply knowledge. I was pretty good at math. I did well on tests. I still don’t understand a lot of it conceptually or how to apply it.

Them: What is the quadratic formula?

Me: x = [−b ± √(b2 − 4ac)]/2a

Them: How is it applied in the real world?
