And here we go! Hinshaw starts with concerns over going back to school. As for what will trigger a school closure? Hinshaw says they aren& #39;t predetermining triggers for closures, saying each situation will be assessed.
Hinshaw says 6 cases have been identified, over the last few weeks, at Bright Horizons Daycare and Out of School Care #yeg. It closed Aug 20. Infants and preschool room opened yday bc it had no reported positive cases.
What happens if someone in a school group gets sick? If they& #39;re at home, they don& #39;t go to school. If they& #39;re at school, they are isolated immediately and sent home. If that person tests positive for #COVID19, AHS will contact close contacts of that person.
If a child was in close contact, they must stay home for 14 days. If the rest of the family can stay distant from that child, they don& #39;t also have to stay home, Hinshaw says.
If there& #39;s a young child, one parent can be assigned to deal with that child, she says.
What is a close contact? Hinshaw says anyone who has been within 2 metres of a case for more than 15 minutes in a day without adequate protection.
She says a student wearing a mask would still be considered a close contact if they& #39;re within 2 metres for 15 minutes or more, however each case will be dealt with on an individual basis.
What constitutes an outbreak? 2+ confirmed cases in staff, students within a 14-day period or 2+ confirmed cases linked to a school setting.
Hinshaw says updates have been made to MyHealth records - effective immediately, you can access test results as soon as they are entered into the system. Access will expire within 30 days though if the account is not confirmed/authenticated.
Could sports cohorts be expanded? Hinshaw says increasing cohort sizes is something they will look at when school re-entry has been completed.
Should young adults be writing down who they are coming into contact with? Hinshaw says she encourages them to make notes about who they& #39;re spending time with. She says they& #39;re also looking to better communicate with this age group.
