A common piece of advice for founders that I disagree with is: "You need an idea you& #39;re passionate enough about to work on for 10 years."

Second, this is exactly the kind of subtle confidence testing/confidence draining statement that is yet another "Maybe you& #39;re intrinsically not cut out for this" message that stops people of color and women from starting companies.
Third, feelings are temporary! You will feel like a failure sometimes and like a rockstar other times, whether or not you start a company. You don& #39;t know how you& #39;ll feel in ten years, and it& #39;s impossible to know.
You need to want to be a leader, to want to learn, and to be excited for what you don& #39;t know yet.
In fact I think being overcommitted to a specific idea/implementation has some big downsides.
