So can we talk about how the design of padawan lightsabers mirror their master& #39;s? I think it& #39;s time we had that conversation.

OKAY SO. First of all this started with my favorite bit of lightsaber meta, which is that Ben& #39;s saber parallels Leia& #39;s. Then I was like WHAT IF THIS GOES DEEPER and it absolutely does.

Let& #39;s start with the first Jedi Master/Padawan pair that we meet, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. These are their sabers in TPM.

The colors, button placement, and ridges are super similar. We see how Obi-Wan still is learning a lot from Qui-Gon.

In AotC, Obi-Wan makes a new saber but it& #39;s still pretty similar. Anakin, interestingly but not surprisingly, makes a saber that& #39;s really not similar to Obi-Wan& #39;s at all cause this kid does whatever he wants. I like how he took the horizontal ridges and made them vertical.

Ok so what really gave me the feelings was when I compared Obi-Wan& #39;s and Anakin& #39;s sabers to Ahsoka& #39;s

This is why I LOVE Ahsoka& #39;s new sabers so much. They are an entirely new design, no hint of former mentors. She is her own master. The diamond pattern really sends this home.

Oh, by Episode 3 Obi-Wan has a lightsaber that& #39;s totally different but still reminiscent of the old design with the ridges. But he now has the same gold piece as Anakin. Now they are like brothers, closely influencing each other yet still their own.

Just thinking about how Luke& #39;s first saber mirrors Obi-Wan& #39;s almost exactly. Old Ben Kenobi had quite an impression on him.

Ok here we have Luke and Leia& #39;s sabers. Leia was mentored by Luke and that is absolutely influenced in her saber design. The top half is the same silhouette, and I love how her grips are reminiscent of her dad& #39;s.

And FINALLY. My favorite bit. When Ben constructed his saber he wasn& #39;t inspired by Luke, but Leia

Also, there& #39;s a lightsaber reference guide book coming out right? I need that. It& #39;s impossible to find good saber pics that aren& #39;t horrible resolution.
