You can pretty much pinpoint on the week-to-week chart where Hendon Hooker took over as VT QB last year. (It& #39;s where things started moving up rapidly.) That has to be pretty encouraging for the Hokies despite the last couple years of general mediocrity.
Hooker& #39;s legs made VT slightly less woefully inefficient running the ball, but the big impact was through the air: 9.0 ANY/A and 15.7 yds/completion. Most of the rec corps is back, and the line& #39;s no longer crazy-young.

Bud Foster& #39;s last VT defense was one of his most volatile and explosive (for better and worse) units. Will see what new DC Justin Hamilton (a fast-rising Foster protege/clone) changes, if anything. Hopefully nothing -- volatile = fun for neutrals
