Big Basin State Park had this secret neighborhood where most of the rangers lived with their families. Ten little tract cottages. They weren& #39;t much, but they were home to some of the kindest and hardest working people I& #39;ve ever met.
It& #39;s gone, like all the park structures.

It sounds like everyone made it all out safely. Which means the rangers are back out there helping fight the fires, trying to save the homes of other people. This, while they& #39;re trying to figure out where to live, how to rebuild, what to say to their kids, and if they have jobs.

I& #39;ve redacted from my life the people who loved to throw shade at me because I live in California or because of my politics. It stopped being funny four years ago. But there are still some folks in my life who quietly think I make too big a deal about how bad our President is.
If you& #39;re one of those people, then you need to understand that he disqualifies himself for the job when he jokes about withholding emergency federal aid because California "wasn& #39;t a base for him" or says it& #39;s our own fault because we didn& #39;t "clean up the floors".
When I don& #39;t have patience for the subject when it comes up, this is why. We all deserve better. And so do the people who lost their homes, who work in these parks, and who fight these fires. All of them. Even the ones I don& #39;t like or agree with.
So please. Spare me your shitty defenses and your justifications and your "what abouts" - I get it. You think it& #39;s all worth it or justified or not that big of a deal. But know that this isn& #39;t some abstract problem that affects people somewhere "out there."
Yes I know he released the aid. Yes I know he plays to his base in the press but quietly does something different.

So I don& #39;t believe for a minute that he wouldn& #39;t let California burn to the ground if he thought he could get away with it, grab more power, and make a bunch of money along the way.
