People keep saying "defund the police" is unrealistic, and yet y& #39;all are the ones who keep saying that we can make the police into something they& #39;ve never been in all of their history.

Re form them into what? They have murdered hundreds of black people every year since they were called slave patrols. They& #39;ve been the primary tools of white terrorism during reconstruction, Jim Crow, and mass incarceration.

What is it about them you need to save?

It& #39;s a package deal: the safety theater that police provide requires a thousand police killings every year and the harassment of Black communities. If that& #39;s worth it to you, then just say that.
